Sources have disclosed to Football Insider that AC Milan and Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid have set their sights on a Liverpool starlet.
We are talking about Marcelo Pitaluga. The 20-year-old Brazilian shot-stopper caught the eye during the first half of the season while plying his trade for Macclesfield in non-league football. Unfortunately, his season was curtailed by an ankle ligament injury.
Now, though, fully fit and raring to go, Pitaluga is determined to earn regular playing time, with a spot in Brazil's Olympics squad at Paris 2024 on his radar. Both AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have been long-time admirers of Pitaluga, and their scouts were reportedly in attendance to watch the goalkeeper in action for Liverpool's Under-21 side against Arsenal on Monday.
