AC Milan's technical area director, Paolo Maldini, has granted an interview to those at Sky before the Champions League clash with Tottenham. Here are his words:

"On the death of Italo Galbiati: great sadness, a very important figure for us and for all of Milan. He gave advice and made many players improve."

He added:

"Returning to the quarter finals? It would be an incredible result. I like to remember where we started from, after 7 years without Champions League and I have great respect for this journey, but it doesn't put us among the top eight by right, history does. Being fixed among the top eight is a titanic feat, but we want to get back there."

On the stadium:

"We've seen the beauty of a modern stadium... and the discussions we have as players who have played at San Siro, without a modern stadium it will be difficult to be competitive again."

Maldini on the tension before the match:

"I prepare myself as if I were going to play, then when I wake up from my afternoon nap I say, 'I don't have to play.' The tension remains from the first to the last minute. It's a part of my life that I enjoy, different but always beautiful."

Maldini concluded:

"Life as a director? I believe that in the modern era, if you don't have a budget like a top team, it's difficult to be among the top four in Italy and the top eight in Europe. I look at the budgets because it's part of my job, but I'm talking about sporting ambition. I'm not here just to have higher revenues, but also to have sporting results that are suitable for the type of club. We must be ambitious from a sporting point of view."
