AC Milan‘s Swedish striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has spoken to those at Sky Sport Italia after the loss against Udinese. He was the only scorer for the Rossoneri tonight. His goal came through a penalty, and thanks to it, he became the Serie A oldest goal scorer, overtaking former Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta. Here are his statements:
“It’s better that he holds this record, I don’t want it.” (laughs)
He added:
“I am proud to enter the history of this club. It is a great club with a great history, with great players. My name is there and it means a lot to me. This goal did not bring me three points, which is what I wanted. Then the first game as captain of Milan gave me pride. But, unfortunately, it didn’t go as we wanted. But I felt good, then I hadn’t started for 14 months. The important thing is to feel good, if I feel good like today, I have no doubts. I still believe in myself.”
Ibrahimovic continued:
“I think there is still room. Ismael came to my room today and told me he wanted me to be the captain. I said okay, I’ll take this pressure off you (laughs), I felt good, I prepared in the best way I could. Unfortunately, the game didn’t go well, we have to raise the level.”
What is happening to the team?
“When you play as champions of Italy, you are a target and a stimulus for everyone. This year we play under pressure in every game. When you play in a big club, it’s like that, everyone wants to beat Milan because they are the champions of Italy. Look at Udinese, when they score, it seems like they’ve scored in a final. But it’s also right, because they score against the Champions of Italy. This team doesn’t have the experience to play as champions of Italy. That’s why we have these ups and downs. We couldn’t keep the level high for all the games, we couldn’t always be at our best. It’s not an excuse but an explanation for what happened.”
How do you experience the Champions League:
“Everyone wants to play in the Champions League. When it was time to give the lists, I wasn’t ready, I respect the decision and now I can only prepare my teammates in the best way in training. I have confidence in the team, they have done well so far and they will do well against Napoli too.”
On the penalty scored against Udinese, Ibrahimovic said:
“I think I took the first one well, then the goalkeeper made a good save. Then the second one came and I thought, ‘Now I’m going to throw the ball and the goalkeeper in.” (laughs)
