As reported earlier, AC Milan were in an important meeting with Giuseppe Sala, mayor of Milan to discuss the new stadium issue once again, considering La Maura region as a prime candidate for the Rossoneri's solo project.
Now, the meeting has ended and Giuseppe Sala has entrusted the media with the following statements about the matter. Here are his words, relayed by Milan News.
"AC Milan confirm their willingness to proceed with La Maura. What I have asked for is, first of all, a formal confirmation that they do not intend to proceed with the project of the stadium near San Siro. Regarding La Maura, I have reiterated that I take note of their interest: what is needed is a project. They believe that they can bring me a draft project in a couple of weeks, and what they are asking for in terms of our formal steps to initiate the process. For me, it is important that the administrative process concerning the stadium near San Siro finds a definition: we cannot remain suspended."
On those who are against La Maura:
"Asking to not take them into consideration, I don't think it's possible, but when I talk about the conditions for which the project could move forward, there are various themes, among them: what does the Parco Sud think? If not through a formal expression of interest, I can't do more."
Will there be a passage in the City Council? Sala said:
"Certainly. The problem is not just the City Council but it's evidently in the Parco Sud and what they think, that's why I asked the teams to express a real interest. There's a very important green area there: what will remain? Will it remain a big public park or not? I need a project to start verifying with the politics first."
On Inter's situation:
"At the moment, I don't express any other options: I haven't talked to them."
