According to Portuguese sports newspaper "A Bola" on Tuesday, Sporting Lisbon President Frederico Varandas, along with Vice President of Finance Francisco Salgado Zenha and Strategy and Operations Manager André Bernardo, were in London to meet with officials from Chelsea and Barcelona.
According to the Portuguese newspaper, the topic discussed with Chelsea representatives was Rafael Leao, with the London club showing strong interest in the AC Milan forward. They met with Sporting Lisbon officials to further discuss the issue of the fine the player must pay to his former club following the unilateral resolution in 2018, which is around 20 million euros.
Currently, Leao, as he himself admitted, is negotiating a contract renewal with AC Milan, but Chelsea believes they can sign him, showing a willingness to resolve the fine issue with Sporting Lisbon.
