AC Milan were eliminated at home in Coppa Italia, humiliated in the Supercoppa by Inter, and out of the Champions League zone in an anonymous and mediocre league. The only redeeming aspect is the journey in the Champions League, except for the terrible semifinals against Inter (an aggravating factor).

According to Sportitalia Director Michele Criscitiello, RedBird and Milan's CEO Giorgio Furlani have confidence in the work done so far by coach Stefano Pioli, and his position is not in question. The coach is supported by the impossibility of relying on a squad of 17-18 players of equal level. Obviously, Pioli also bears his share of responsibility, but the focus is also on the work of the administrative duo: Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara.

Wrong summer transfers, a need to review the technical management, and a relationship with the club's leadership that is often confrontational rather than collaborative. Naturally, all of this will be discussed at the end of the season. There are still three important matches to be played for the Rossoneri, although much will depend on the Federal Court's decision regarding Juventus. The accounts will be settled in a month's time. In the meantime, there is discontent at Casa Milan regarding how the post-title period was handled. Maldini and Massara will have to provide technical explanations to Furlani and Cardinale because the budget was made available to the technical department, but evidently the results were not as expected by everyone.
