AC Milan's chief of scouts Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani are looking "quietly" to sign a right-back, writes Calciomercato.com. The position is not an absolute priority for now though.
The first name on the shortlist to reinforce the right-back position is 18-year-old talent Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid whose deal runs until the summer of 2025. Then, there is the Ivorian starlet of Torino Wilfried Singo, a 22-year-old Ivorian whose contract with Torino expires in June 2024.
Currently, there have only been a few contacts made for both players, but it's clear that the arrival of either one would change the situation on the right flank. The hierarchy currently consists of Calabria, Kalulu, Florenzi, and Saelemaekers, in that order. Pioli doesn't see Saelemaekers as a full-back, but he can drop back into the defensive line if really necessary. These four options could become five, which is why market developments cannot be ruled out.
The player who could be sacrificed is Pierre Kalulu, however. The Frenchman has slipped into the reserves last season after being an absolute protagonist in the 2021-22 season. Signed in 2020 for a fee of 480 thousand euros to Lyon, his departure would generate a substantial capital gain for Milan.
Currently, there have been no offers for the French talent. However, his name is on the list of untouchable players, but if a really attractive offer arrives, he could pack his bags. In other words, Milan doesn't have the need to sell him, considering his versatility (he is the first alternative to Tomori and Thiaw, especially with Kjaer and Gabbia's uncertain positions). AC Milan would only consider his departure if there is an economic advantage. Kalulu renewed his contract until 2027 last November with a net salary between 2 and 2.4 million euros per season.
