Interviewed by Newcastle's official channel, Sandro Tonali spoke about his transfer from Milan to the Magpies. Here are his words:

"There were many stages. The most important one was the first, when they informed me about Newcastle's interest. I took it well immediately because I knew it was something real, concrete. So we approached it differently compared to all the other occasions in the past when we were contacted by clubs. Every year there are interested teams, but this time people truly demonstrated that they wanted me here at all costs."

On his journey with AC Milan:

"At Milan, I went through a path that culminated in the Champions League semifinals. In the first year, we were fighting for the title, in the second year, we managed to win it, and in the third year, we didn't make it, but we went far in the Champions League."

On the Newcastle project, Tonali said:

"It's a project that has already been born, and needs to be carried forward."

On leaving Milan:

"This was one of the most difficult decisions since I became a footballer. It was tough but it had to be done, and the time had come to do it. We decided to embark on this new path. It was a very difficult decision, and once we get past it, a challenging journey will begin because it will be tough. But it's an opportunity and something to be tried."

On winning the Scudetto with AC Milan, Tonali said:

"It was a fantastic season. We all learned so much there. Every match felt like a final. The first one to let go even a centimeter could lose the title. In every game, we had to win to reach the end, and there were around 10 matches left until the finish line. It was a beautiful, sporting battle that rewarded us for what we achieved throughout the entire season."
