In the previous summer transfer window, AC Milan were looking for a striker who can rotate with French veteran Olivier Giroud who will turn 37 at the end of this September month.
Eventually, the Rossoneri signed the former Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic. He was not the first choice on the list, but he was the easiest target to sign, especially in the last hours of the mercato when the deal for Mehdi Taremi collapsed.
Another player that was close to joining Milan was Antonio Sanabria from Torino.
As reported by La Stampa in today's edition, AC Milan had practically secured Antonio Sanabria, a forward from Torino. The player, following Zapata's arrival in granata, had accepted the Rossoneri's attempts. However, the transfer negotiation was blocked by coach Ivan Juric, who insisted on keeping Sanabria in the Torino squad.

Because of this, Torino did not agree to sell the Paraguayan forward to AC Milan. The Rossoneri then turned towards other targets and finally settling on Luka Jovic.
