Interviewed on Radio Serie A, Massimo Ambrosini recounted his farewell to AC Milan:
"There was a lack of careful management. It's fair that they were thinking big, I was 37 years old. But it's also fair that they communicated it differently, and maybe they realised that. And maybe even afterward... it could have been given more importance than it was given to me."
Ambrosini continued:
"They informed me in two moments: we won in Siena and qualified for the Champions League, the next day I went on vacation and called Galliani, and for me, it was inconceivable that I would leave Milan. Then he told me that Cristante was playing more. After two weeks of back and forth, I was by the sea in Pesaro and I received Galliani's call saying, 'Look Massimo...'. I was very sad, I ended with 492 appearances and my dream was to reach 500, but it wasn't so much about that, I couldn't see myself anywhere else."
