Milan salvaged three valuable points in an away match versus Genoa today. The squad held on to a 1-0 victory in an important fixture to secure the top spot in the Serie A table headed in to the international break.
The victory did not come without casualties, however. Left back Theo Hernandez will be forced to miss the next match against Juventus as he received his fifth yellow card of the season. The French fullback began the match aware of his situation and allowed himself to earn a booking early resulting in a one-match ban.
This is Theo's fifth yellow card in seven Serie A games
Theo was given an avoidable yellow card in the 21st minute of the match following a foul on Genoa player Frendrup. Hernandez had already been warned for a couple of fouls prior to the booking and was eventually shown a yellow on his poor challenge. The foul came in a useless position on the pitch and was seen as an "avoidable" foul in the grande scheme of the match.
Milan will be forced to field either natural right back Alessandro Florenzi or youngster Davide Bartesaghi to fill in for Theo in the left back position. Manager Stefano Pioli will have some time to ponder the decision as the club play will take a pause during the international break.
