Stefano Pioli is in trouble as his choices are limited, and also forced, due to unavailable players who are suffering from physical setbacks. AC Milan's boss will have to make some tough choices.
It appears that the former Fiorentina tactician will rely on two defenders in the coming weeks and they are: Jan-Carlo Simic and Davide Bartesaghi, as pointed out by Milan Press.
The injury crisis hitting the Rossoneri's defense (Kalulu and Pellegrino out for a long time, Kjaer dealing with fatigue) is leading Stefano Pioli to rely on the young players he brought with him on the summer tour in the United States.
Simic, the 18-year-old Serbian centre-back, caught the attention of Pioli in the summer during the friendly pre-season tour in the United States of America. He even delivered a good performance against Real Madrid. He is trusted by Ignazio Abate and is regarded highly.

As for Davide Bartesaghi, the 17-year-old Italian left-back he already made appearances in the league this season aggainst Hellas Verona and also Genoa. He can also play as a centre-back if needed.
Stefano Pioli's staff is indeed impressed by the Italian full-back's qualities and skills, and for this reason, it has been decided, especially considering the absence of a backup for Theo Hernandez, to keep him firmly in the first team.
