For Saturday's match against Atalanta at the Gewiss stadium, Olivier Giroud will finally return to playing in the league after serving a two-match suspension due to the red card he earned in the match against Lecce.
He will likely return as the starting striker for AC Milan instead of Luka Jovic. The return of Rafael Leao and Simon Kjaer, who trained separately at Milanello yesterday, remains uncertain.
Kjaer might rejoin the group in the coming days if he improves, possibly making it into the squad list for the trip to Bergamo, but starting from the beginning is unlikely.
Consequently, it seems Theo Hernandez will stay in the center of Milan's defense alongside Fikayo Tomori.
AC Milan's Theo must be ready to face former teammate De Ketelaere in Atalanta
Hernandez performed well in that role against Frosinone, earning Pioli's praise: "He did excellently defensively and in building up play. He had a great game, showing a strong desire to help the team in a critical moment." Facing Atalanta on Saturday will be a tougher test, and perhaps Theo might confront his former teammate Charles De Ketelaere as an opponent.
