Arrigo Sacchi spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport as usual. The former AC Milan coach talked about the various situations involving Italian teams in the Champions League and the faint hope of the Rossoneri progressing.
Satisfied with the Italian teams?
"I would say so, indeed. Three of them are in the round of 16, and that's a great achievement. It was a struggle to get there, and we hope they make it even though it won't be easy. But there are still several things to improve, so it's crucial not to stop. I don't just look at the results but also at the style of play. Regarding the game, there are steps forward that can and must be taken. We can't always rely solely on counterattacks and heroic defenses. We need other solutions."
On how the Rossoneri can progress against Newcastle, Sacchi said:
"From Milan, I expect them to return to being a team, to play as a collective, to show a high spirit of sacrifice. It would be a remarkable achievement, especially after the Rossoneri displayed inconsistency in this first part of the season, which has often penalized them."
