Fikayo Tomori was interviewed by Milan TV. Here are the words of the English centre-back on the victory against Newcastle at the St. James' Park in the Champions League:
"Before the match against Newcastle, we knew the stadium would be full and tough. The first half was difficult, but in the second half, we played with spirit, energy, and especially quality. In the second half, we deserved the win."
Hitting the post during added time:
"My two goals, against Frosinone and Cagliari, were easy to score. I also wanted to score against Newcastle, but I tried to be too precise."
On his role and maturity, Tomori said:
"I feel good on the field with the way I'm playing. I play in the center of defense, I have to talk a lot and motivate the team: that's what I'm doing."
On his partnership with Theo Hernandez in the centre of the defence:
"Now I have Theo next to me, and we understand each other well on the field. With the relationship we have, we don't need to talk much; we know our qualities and characteristics on the field."
Regarding the Europa League as an objective, Tomori commented:
"Now we're in the Europa League, and we have to give our all to win it. If we play all the games as we did in the second half against Newcastle, I'm sure we can do better in this competition."
The former Chelsea defender also talked about the next match against AC Monza:
"After the match against Newcastle, we need to use this confidence and understanding we have in the next game. We played against Monza in the preseason; they are good at moving the ball. We'll try to win because the championship is still long. We're nine points behind, but if we focus only on ourselves, anything can happen."
