The January transfer market is getting closer. AC Milan will undoubtedly be a protagonist during this transfer window because they are practically obliged to intervene for a defender. Ongoing work, however, might also involve other positions on the field: the striker remains a constant thought for the Rossoneri management but seems more dictated by opportunity.
Yesterday, Mundo Deportivo introduced a new name into the Rossoneri radar: that of the Frenchman Clement Lenglet. The name was confirmed by Tuttosport. Currently, the 1995-born central defender is with Aston Villa, experiencing a season on loan from Barcelona. However, he has had very few chances to play so far: only five appearances, all in the Conference League. Milan could step in by exploiting this situation.
First, the Aston Villa club should have a replacement in hand, then the player should formally return to Barcelona before being loaned to Milan. The preferred formula is a loan with an option to buy, but the crucial point is linked to the payment of the salary. Lenglet earns 6 million, of which 75% is currently covered by Aston Villa.
Milan has no intention of paying such a high percentage, so Barcelona needs to make an effort. It's a challenging operation but one that can be worked on.
