As pointed out by Il Corriere dello Sport in this morning's print edition, Stefano Pioli's team will face Salernitana at the Arechi stadium and it will be their last away game of the calendar year. The hope for the team is to obtain three valuable points.
Pioli's team needs consistency: their performance in the league has been inconsistent, and while the win against Newcastle led to a Europa League relegation, it seemed to have rejuvenated the team. Against Monza, they displayed one of their best performances of the season. What Milan has lacked in these initial months, however, is indeed consistency.
To stay competitive, a lot will also depend on the January transfer market and the injury situation. Regarding the former, Pioli remained reserved when asked about it in the press conference: he said: "The club knows what our needs are. The club is ready to intervene in January", while he expressed hope about the medical situation: "We hope things improve as soon as possible, although unfortunately, we will have some very long injuries. We hope to return to normality soon".
