German former footballer Hansi Muller: “Guirassy would also perform at Milan”

Hansi Müller, former striker of Inter for two seasons (1982-1984), spoke about Serhou Guirassy. Here are his words to La Gazzetta dello Sport:

"I've been to their recent training sessions, and if you see how they work, you're not surprised by their fabulous football and how Sebastian Hoeness, the coach, has improved the performance of many players, including Guirassy, by 20-30%."

On what kind of forward Serhou Guirassy is:

"One of the most complete I've ever seen. If you look at his goals, especially the first ones, they're all different. High class: there's technique, courage, there are feints or composure with penalties, headers, a chip over the goalkeeper. In short, one goal more beautiful than the other. I also believe that apart from these abilities, he has become a leader in the team, taking care of the young players, some of whom speak French and he communicates with them."

On the many French-speaking players in Milan:

"When Guirassy arrived young at Cologne, the center forward was Anthony Modeste who helped him a lot, not just with the language. Guirassy hasn't forgotten these teachings and in the same way, he helps the guys in the locker room: gives advice, calms them, feels the responsibility and takes it, takes care of others. And this makes him grow even more."

On his character:

"They tell me he's a nice guy, he doesn't make himself important. As they say in Italian, 'non se la tira' (he doesn't show off). Neither as a man nor as a player. It would be a very important loss for Stuttgart."

On Guirassy being ready for a new adventure:

"It depends on what he really wants. If he thinks: I'm 27 years old, it's the last chance to go to a big club, earning double or triple, I could understand that. Because you don't know what happens next, maybe you get injured, you don't return to that level, or the team is declining. Many uncertainties. But he will be missed if he leaves."

On the possible coexistence in Milan with Olivier Giroud:

"If people wonder about these things, I'll go back to the talk about Evaristo Beccalossi. When I arrived at Inter, the question was similar. But if you have players who know how to play football, there's always a solution to make them play together. He and I got along well, otherwise, we wouldn't have played cards off the field. The good ones have to play together. And then Guirassy has many other qualities."

On Guirassy's qualities:

"He's flexible, has an incredible way of seeing and reading the game, and he has experience. Combining talent with responsibility and team behavior - here in Stuttgart, he is loved by everyone - he can play with anyone."

On why he bloomed late:

"Stuttgart is playing a different style of football. For example, they have five left-footed players and an incredible flexibility that opponents aren't used to. The center forward depends more than anyone on the team."

On buying Guirassy if he were an executive:

"He would also perform in Milan, in Liverpool, in Real Madrid. But only if he is respected and allowed to do what he wants. Talking about the future, I can't know if Milan would do all this. But any club that gets him couldn't go wrong. He has shown his abilities, they don't disappear. But there must be harmony and no envy from others. He's a very sensitive guy. The atmosphere in the team in Stuttgart is exceptional. And about Milan, if I may..."

On the appeal to his Inter:

"As a former Inter player: if Milan gets Guirassy, congratulations and respect. Then I would advise Inter to get Florian Wirtz because he is the best player in the Bundesliga."
