The transfer window will officially be opened on Tuesday January 2, 2024. AC Milan will have to move swiftly and intelligently to satisfy the needs of the coach.

Milan's options in the winter transfer market:
Two central defenders and one midfielder. For the defence, the first move is to recall Matteo Gabbia from his loan at Villarreal. Villarreal, instead, will replace him with the free agent Eric Bailly, according to Pianeta Milan.
For the other defender, the aim is for a left-footed player who can set the pace, perhaps on loan, with not too significant a wage. Therefore, it's unlikely to be Clément Lenglet (Aston Villa).
Also, Merih Demiral (Al-Alhi) is not considered for various reasons: he's a non-EU player, earns too high a salary (10 million euros net per year), and is right-footed.
Milan has decided to use the non-EU slot to sign Matija Popović, a Serbian playmaker born in 2006, who will arrive for free from Partizan. In midfield, the hottest name is that of Samuele Ricci from Torino.
