Stefano Pioli, the AC Milan head coach, spoke to the media after the 1-0 victory at the San Siro against Sassuolo, here are his words, as relayed by those at the Milan News website:
It was not a brilliant performance, but the team showed unity...
"We had a good first half, although we pushed the depth a bit too much with the defenders; we should have done it with more precision... I believe we played the game that needed to be played. So, I'm satisfied. There was a moment when we were attacking from one side to the other. We need to improve a lot in the final third of the field, managing it better."
On Tijjani Reijnders - Ismael Bennacer partnership:
"I talk a lot with my players, and I believe these are the positions they feel most comfortable in right now."
On the 2023 year:
"I wish you a new year of happiness and health, perhaps for us too, with some sporting satisfaction maybe."
The players formed a circle after the final whistle (See here)... Pioli commented:
"For me, it's normal; they did it even before going out on the field, away from the cameras. It's a group that, I say in quotes, goes on its own now. We've been through difficult times, taken some beatings, but we've never given up, facing the difficulties with the right cohesion."
