After the win against Roma at the San Siro with a 3-1 result, Stefano Pioli spoke like this to DAZN microphones:
On Milan's victory:
"At 2-1, the game had reopened, and we needed to close it when we had the chances to score the third goal. The third goal gave us more serenity in the end."
On the defensive phase:
"The attacking wingers did the job we asked them to do. With their formation, we work more with the full-backs. We waited for them to avoid giving Roma depth. We had a decent defensive phase, but there's always room for improvement."
On the transfer market, Pioli said:
"The club knows that there are needs, and they are working on it. We'll see if we can seize some opportunities to cover some gaps we have due to injuries."
On Gerry Cardinale's visit to the locker room:
"His presence in the locker room before the game was beautiful. He supported and motivated us, confirming that the club will always be ambitious while respecting the budget. I don't talk about the budget for the January transfer market because I'm not aware of it."
On the team:
"I'm not sensitive. We raised the expectations ourselves after the work done in recent years. When you don't reach certain goals, there are criticisms. We always need to seek improvement. The season is still long."
On the title race:
"Take us out of the title race (smiles). We need to focus only on ourselves. We have a clear goal: we had a decent first half of the season, now we want to have an excellent second half. It won't be easy; we have to pedal, but we only think about the next game. Udine has never been easy for us."
On the standings:
"We could have had a few more points. We pay for those four games where we only got two points, not playing badly. But we don't look at the past; we look at the present and the future. We can make our mark in the league and in the Europa League."
