According to Peppe Di Stefano, SkySport correspondent at the BluEnergy Arena in Udinese, the AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan was the victim of racist insults ("Monkey," translated as "Scimmia," which means "Monkey" in Italian) from some Udinese fans who were seated behind the goal defended by the AC Milan goalkeeper.
The Rossoneri goalkeeper was distracted and distraught as Udinese continued to target him. He left the pitch in protest in the first half and resumed minutes later.
Eventually, the match ended with the Rossoneri winning 3-2. Goals scored by Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Luka Jovic, and Noah Okafor.
