AC Milan's Rafa Leao is a guest tonight on 'Che Tempo Che Fa' mainly to present his book titled "Smile." Many topics were touched upon in the long and enjoyable interview with Milan's number ten.
Here are Leao's words:
"The draw against Bologna? Football is like that; we were unlucky, and we could have done better. We always want to win, but it's part of the sport. We accept it and now focus on Frosinone."
On penalty kicks:
"I'll take the next one, even though Giroud has always been good and is a true specialist. Sometimes you make mistakes; it happens. He's a great player and will do well again. He's a very important element for the team."
Leao said:
"I like to smile; that's just how I am. I smile and respond to people with optimism; it's my way of reacting to life. The book? Maybe I could have waited a bit, but I wanted to make myself known in private too. It's a good way for you to understand who I really am."
On racism and Mike Maignan:
"He was nervous, didn't want to play, but we were with him. I'm sorry for all people of colour, we must fight against racism every day. We thank Milan for everything they've done. Unfortunately, racism will never end, but we stand by Mike and need to give a response."
Leao on Paolo Maldini and Zlatan Ibrahimovic:
"Yes, very different from each other: Maldini helped me a lot at the beginning when I arrived. I miss him; sometimes he even scolded me, as it should be. He's a strong personality. Zlatan? He is incredible; he always helps us and is an icon for all of us. We're happy to have him here because he's a great source of motivation."
Portugal and a difficult childhood
"My childhood wasn't easy; I experienced tough moments. My family is my pride; I owe everything to them because they always supported me. If I've become what I am now, it's thanks to them. I remember spending many hours playing football in the street with my friends; they were a bit jealous because I was better than them, and often they didn't let me play."
Goal against PSG and the championship
"Two beautiful moments. In the Champions League, I did well, and I want to do even more with Milan. The championship... what emotions! A day I'll never forget; we were sure, it was an extraordinary moment. I remember the tears under the Curva Sud with my parents."
On fashion and favourite past-time:
"I like music and singing, but I'm a bit shy. Fashion? Yes, I like fashion shows, brands. In my life, it's not just football; I have many passions and always try to create the right time for everything."
