La Gazzetta dello Sport on their website reported how Zlatan Ibrahimovic, senior advisor of RedBird and Milan, had expressed his closeness and complete trust in Stefano Pioli: "He is our coach, and we are happy with him."
That is an important statement that, at the moment, reflects the common sentiment of the entire Rossoneri club towards their coach.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition, Zlatan Ibrahimovic expressed annoyance at all the rumours in recent weeks that have portrayed him as the main supporter of a possible arrival of Antonio Conte to the Rossoneri bench.
According to the Swedish star, the last contacts with the former coach of Juventus and Inter date back eight years. In essence, all the rumors circulating in recent days about Ibrahimovic endorsing Conte are dismissed by the former footballer as fantasies or gossip. Ibrahimovic returned as an advisor at the beginning of December, and essentially, he has been given carte blanche, even without effective decision-making power. Nevertheless, his opinion is highly regarded, and for this reason, the rumors linking him to Conte have bothered him.
Pioli
Another perspective to consider is the relationship with Pioli. Despite all the talk, in recent years, a sincere relationship of esteem and respect has developed between Ibrahimovic and Stefano Pioli that goes beyond the simple coach-player or coach-executive dualism. Of course, the current Milan coach, at the end of the season, like all coaches, will be judged by the club based on his performance. The feeling is that in June, an evaluation will be made based on what Pioli achieves in the coming months.
There is a Champions League spot to confirm and a Europa League to honor. Therefore, at the moment, the club stands with Pioli, with Ibra leading the way, but the final decision will be made in June.
