AC Milan is trying to renew the contract of Mike Maignan, the French goalkeeper whose deal is due to expire on June 30, 2026. At the end of this season, there will be only two years left, with the option of potentially selling his services to maximize profit, considering that there are many interested clubs.
In particular, Paris Saint Germain, with Gianluigi Donnarumma who has had ups and downs especially between the end of last season and the beginning of this one, while his performance has stabilized (positively) in the recent period. Bayern Munich is also interested, which instead had the intention of replacing Neuer already last summer, but made a wrong investment with Peretz who did not provide the right guarantees.
Maignan rejected the first proposal from the Rossoneri of five million euros, asking for about eight. A top salary to surpass Rafael Leao, who is currently the highest-paid player in the Milan squad with 6.5 million euros net per year. Both parties are clear that, at least currently, such a demand means no renewal, but it's not necessarily the end of negotiations.
So, in the coming weeks, another proposal will arrive, around 6 million euros plus bonuses. This is the amount paid by Milan for Donnarumma at the time of his first renewal.
The club is optimistic and believes they won't lose their shotstopper, although there is currently no willingness to sell the player unless irresistible offers are made, as told by Tuttomercatoweb.com.
