The Assembly of the Lega Serie A today could unfold in an interesting way. As reported by La Repubblica, the division that has opened up between the big clubs (Inter, Juventus, Roma, and Milan) and the remaining teams in the league risks being unbridgeable.
The idea remains to reduce the Italian top division to 18 teams, even though today's meeting should concern the similar Premier League proposal from the League, thus breaking away from the FIGC.
Obviously, the majority is absolutely against it. It will take 14 votes to bring about the reduction from 20 to 18, and only Napoli, Lazio, and Fiorentina will be affected (but not necessarily in favour) to vote positively.
There is the idea, the newspaper concludes, that the "smaller" clubs will boycott the upcoming assemblies to express dissent.
