The following day, having digested the draw and analysed both the positive and negative aspects of the Rossoneri’s performance in last night’s match, what remains etched in the memory are the two moments of brilliance from new signing Diego Moreira. Not only did he earn the Rossoneri a point that had seemed almost unthinkable at half-time, but he also sent a clear message to the fans, the media and his manager that the left flank should belong to him this season. However, Moreira is not the player to talk about here, writes Milan News. Instead, the focus on another ‘new signing’ who also changed the game after coming on and who everyone hopes this was merely the beginning of the return of a player who, during the first half of last season, was among the best in Europe: Christian Pulisic.

Welcome back Pulisic:

At half-time, there was not a single Rossoneri fan who was not hoping to see number 11 come on, having yet to play a single minute in this new league campaign. Amorim had been clear: Pulisic was hungry and eager to get back on the pitch and show the coach how decisive he can be in the final third. Helped by Loftus-Cheek's disastrous first half, the American was introduced at the start of the second period, precisely when the team’s performance underwent a complete transformation. Intensity, movement between the lines to receive the ball, quality in possession, runs into the box, threat, shots on goal: Chris brought all of these qualities onto the pitch and, after just 15 minutes, immediately provided his first assist of the season for Diego Moreira’s goal that made it 1-2.

Pulisic is now crucial:

The American’s start to the season has not been easy. Since the summer, there have been several setbacks: the injury he suffered with the national team during the World Cup, the knock picked up in training that Amorim only revealed yesterday in his press conference and which forced him to stop, Cisse’s consistency in the attacking positions, and the coach’s tactical experiments with Saelemaekers and Rabiot. All of these factors complicated the situation for the Rossoneri number 11, who had accumulated 0 Serie A minutes by half-time of the fourth matchday. His introduction, however, swept all of that aside, like an American hurricane devastating everything in its path. For this reason, from the next match onwards, coach Amorim will have to be smart enough to give him continuity and definitively put Pulisic into the Rossoneri’s attacking engine from the first minute. The difference in the team’s performance with him and without him was obvious, extremely obvious, especially considering that his physical condition will certainly not yet be at its best. Given what he produced on the pitch, that can only be good news for Milan and their fans. This was reported by Milan News.
