Arrigo Sacchi, discussed the recent matches in Serie A and the Scudetto race, as usual in the pages of La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Here are his words below:
"If I expected Juventus to collapse? If I say yes, I come off as presumptuous. However, I must admit that the defeat against Udinese, in my opinion, is the result of the defeat a week ago, at San Siro against Inter. So, something could be sensed in the air. At San Siro, Allegri's boys gave their all and realised they were inferior to Inter. These are games that leave a mark on you, physically and mentally. Once they realised that they probably wouldn't win the title, they may have lowered their guard a bit. Furthermore, Juventus has a very young team, there is little experience, no leader-figures. All of this, in the long run, weighs heavily."
Now, AC Milan are one point behind Juventus... Sacchi commented:
"Milan is going through a good moment of form, as they showed on Sunday evening against Napoli. They are only one point behind Juventus, so it's logical that they aim to finish second. It shouldn't be forgotten, however, that the Rossoneri are also involved in the Europa League, while Juventus has no European games and can prepare throughout the week without wasting energy. It's not a minor detail. It will be an exciting race right to the end."
And Inter Milan will observe this sprint from above... Sacchi replied:
"Oh no, Inter will have to give their all to reach the finish line as soon as possible, and only then can they allow themselves a bit of relaxation. Inter also has European commitments, the Champions League is tough, the double challenge against Atletico Madrid will force the Nerazzurri to put in extra efforts. The advantage, I repeat, is there and it's important. But it must be protected with the right mental attitude. Woe to those who feel they have arrived."
