Fabio Capello, speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, spoke about Zlatan Ibrahimovic's role with Milan. Here are his words:
"I have only one doubt. I would like to know if he will manage to be diplomatic: I'm not just talking about in public, but also in private."
"Zlatan is a proud and intelligent guy, I don't think he'll blindly throw himself into matters he doesn't understand as well as he knows the world of the field. In other areas, he will inevitably have to gain experience. And given the direct involvement, he will have to do it quickly."
Will Stefano Pioli feel less strong when Zlatan Ibrahimovic speaks? Pioli replied:
"I don't know if he will be happy about it, but Stefano knows better than anyone that beyond words or roles, this profession is about results. Of course, the words of those in charge must be listened to, but in the end, victories on the field matter most of all. And anyway, it was the same with Maldini and Massara, they were part of the team and Pioli could benefit from their experience. Ibra won't speak instead of the coach, he would never allow himself to do that."
Do the players risk being overshadowed? Capello said:
"No, I don't think so. Ibra is the first to know that on the field, it's them who matter, not those who talk, stimulate, or help from the outside. In fact, nobody knows it better than him. Transfer market? He will and must decide everything. I know he won't be impulsive and that he will seek consensus. When choosing a possible new coach, pros and cons must be considered: the type of team you provide, the resources you have, and the goals you set. Today it's hard to say."
