Pierre Kalulu, finally back on the field after overcoming the injury that kept him out for several months, gave an interview to Sportmediaset:
On the moment of returning to the field:
"I waited for it for at least three months. After the injury, there's a moment where you want to leave everything without even looking at football, for at least two weeks, and then there's just the waiting and the desire to start working on many things again. It's as I imagined it, San Siro full in the afternoon. Second rebirth? Let's say a new awakening. It was long and difficult to experience, especially for the first time. But you have to take the positive sides from this experience."
What have you missed?
"The difficult thing from a human point of view is that you get used to everything, it's the beautiful thing but also the worst, when you realize that you love it and you need this thing to be simply yourself. Just warming up, seeing the stadium singing, these are the most beautiful things about our job. When you grow up, you get used to it, it becomes your daily bread, and when it's not there anymore, you realize that this is what charges you up and makes you work."
Kalulu added:
"When you come back, you already hunger for victories, even from the training matches at Milanello. They may sound cliché, but it's true that when you wear this jersey, you can't imagine starting a game without winning, whether it's in the league or the Europa League. Then there are the incidents, but the normal thing should be winning. Do I believe in second place? For me, a very strange question, if we're second, I have to say yes (laughs). It will be a head-to-head battle, but there's the direct clash: if you don't believe now, you'll never believe."
From Prague to Prague...
"Destiny is like this, a very long wait. If I have to play, it will be a nice episode for me. Let's hope it can end like four years ago, with a nice victory playing well. Before I wasn't waiting, now I am."
On his physical condition:
"From zero to a hundred, how do I feel? A hundred, a hundred, incredible (laughs). Finding the goal this year? It's not a promise, it's already in my plan to score at least one goal until the end of the season. I've worked really hard to recover, now I feel good but as we all know, today's truth is not tomorrow's truth, today I can say that I feel good and ready to give my best. I want to be at the level of expectations."
On Theo Hernandez playing as a central defender:
"He's not a central defender, you've seen it. I've already told him what I had to say, but my vote won't change anything."
Believing in the European Championship with France:
"I think about it, but there are steps. For now, I think about entering well and playing as many matches as possible. I feel good, you have to regain rhythm. If you're hungry then you can't say no to opportunities."
