AC Milan's English centre-back, Fikayo Tomori, has spoken to the media along with Tommaso Pobega in the 'Tutt i Colori dello Sport' event.
Here are his words:
"We all know there's a racism problem. Personally, I'm glad efforts are being made to eliminate this problem. In England, there are many initiatives. I'm glad to talk about it because racism exists in football and outside of football. Today we can discuss it, giving some advice on how to eliminate it."
On the role of social media in this battle:
"They make a difference. Everyone has a phone and can write whatever they want. We're under the spotlight, and after a match, people often forget that we're humans too. When we hear something, it hurts us. Social media is good, but it can also be something that goes against being human."
On the reaction to racist insults towards Maignan?
"I was injured for Udinese-Milan. I was watching TV and didn't immediately understand what happened, but I was glad that the whole team was with Mike, as well as the club, social media... Those things are a moment, but they make all the difference in the world. After what happened, I'm even more glad to be part of this Club."
On the upcoming period for Milan:
"We are ready, as Pobega said."
On today's meeting:
"It's nice to meet the kids. We want to be open, talk to you, because it's a very nice thing."
Has racism ever affected you? Tomori replied:
"Not for me. I've certainly seen something on my social media, but it's never been for me. But I know very well that it exists and that there's a problem. It makes me angry."
