Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared a story in an interview on 'Passa dal BSMT', by Gianluca Gazzoli on Youtube.
Among his many anecdotes, he recalled the behind-the-scenes of Fikayo Tomori's arrival at AC Milan, explaining how he became the first to know.
Here are his words, as relayed by Milan Press:
"Sources can come in all forms. Often, they are the players themselves, through social media. For years, they have also been unimaginable people. There was the girlfriend of a friend of mine in London who, when an English player was supposed to go to Milan, called me and said, ‘My roommate lives in the same building as him, she met him and he told her he's going to play in Milan.’ He was a center-back. I put two and two together, verified it through my sources, and broke the news exclusively, thanks to the roommate of the girlfriend of a friend of mine. If you become a reference point, people themselves try to please you by giving you the news."
