AC Milan is studying moves for the upcoming summer, and over the months, the club management has considered the opportunity to explore the market for a new right-back.
That possibility has recently lost strength, also because the department is already crowded with captain Davide Calabria (likely to renew), in-form Alessandro Florenzi, and Filippo Terracciano who arrived in January from Hellas Verona but has only been used sparingly.
There was a list of candidates for Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani, containing several carefully considered names. Among them is Yan Couto, a Brazilian who is shining with Girona but is owned by Manchester City.
There is total interest from the Rossoneri for the 21-year-old, but he seems to have other plans, as pointed out by Calciomercato.com.
In fact, interviewed by Radio Catalunya, Couto has indeed hinted at Real Madrid, which in recent weeks has been strongly linked to the Girona player: "Is playing for Real an option? Yes yes, if they are interested... I won't lie."
Open to Real, but Couto then clearly states where his mind is: "I'm a Manchester City player, I have a contract with them, and my dream is to play for City", explains the full-back, who could become Kyle Walker's heir at Guardiola's court.
This season, on loan from Manchester City at Girona, Couto has made 33 appearances overall (28 in La Liga, 5 in Copa del Rey) with two goals and 8 assists. In October, he made his debut for the Brazilian national team, with whom he also played last March in a friendly against Spain at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.
