Sergio Conceicao has long been a target for the bench of some Italian clubs, starting from Lazio (where he played in the past besides Inter as well), moving on to Napoli, but also and especially for Milan, as they have considered him for the post-Pioli era.
Today more than ever, it is not excluded that they may reconsider him among the alternatives to Julen Lopetegui, Paulo Fonseca, and Mark Van Bommel.
The reason is linked to the contract that binds him to Porto, the club he has been coaching for many years now, and with whom he had reached an agreement for an extension in recent weeks. That said renewal until June 30, 2028, however, is now more than ever in doubt, or rather, according to the Portuguese press, it is to be considered null and void, writes Calciomercato.com.
The reason behind cancelling the renewal of Conceicao with Porto?
The signing of the extension was contingent on the confirmation of the historic president Pinto Da Costa in his position, but the recent elections saw the triumph André Villas Boas (a former member of Inter's coaching staff back in the 2008/2009 season), who will now have to make a definitive decision about the future of his coach. In other words, both parties say they are calm and ready to talk about it, but there are no certainties yet, and Milan may also return to court the Porto coach.
