Arda Güler, Turkish talent of Real Madrid, explained today the choice to prefer the Spanish giants over the interest of clubs like Inter, Bayern Munich, Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Interviewed by the YouTube channel Kafa Sports, Güler explained how his decision came about:
"We played a match in Samsun with the Turkish team against Wales and then I went on vacation and started thinking about my future. Before, my father was in charge of everything and I only thought about becoming a champion with Fenerbahçe. For example, the Turkish Cup final was being played and I only thought about staying focused on the field, but when I went on vacation, I had to choose a place to play for the next season. When my father called me and told me that Real Madrid wanted me and was interested in me, I was very excited, very happy. Everything came a bit too soon for me. That's why I was so excited."
Guler explained further:
"Since we were kids, many children dream of playing for Madrid, the biggest club in the world. They are like a family and they offered me a long-term project. As soon as we sat down at the table, everything was decided. It was very fast. I watched Real Madrid videos on YouTube and now I train with them. Real Madrid told me that Luka Modric would help me. I was very impressed because he is an incredible player and still very important", as relayed via Calciomercato.com.
Guler concluded:
"I had a release clause of 17.5 million euros. So, anyone who paid that amount would have taken me. But I kept negotiating with Real Madrid until the last moment so that my family, Fenerbahçe, could earn more."
