Mike Maignan stopped again just minutes before kickoff in the match against Juventus on Saturday at the Allianz Stadium. The French goalkeeper waved the white flag in favor of Marco Sportiello, who ironically turned out to be the best player on the pitch.
Yesterday, the Rossoneri's number 16 underwent tests to understand the extent of his problem, and the results were crystal clear: a minor grade injury to the long adductor on his right side. Both for Maignan and Loftus-Cheek (minor grade injury to the right hamstring muscle), a reassessment is expected next week.
The feeling is that both of them will miss not only the Genoa match but also the subsequent one against Cagliari. And it's not certain that they'll be back for the last two matches against Torino and Salernitana.
Especially for Mike Maignan, who aims to play in the Euros after missing out on the World Cup in Qatar due to injury. That said, it's interesting to note that, to date, Maignan has missed a whopping 38 matches due to different injuries at Milan. In his first season, he missed 9 matches, last year a staggering 23, and this year he's already at 6. With Genoa and Cagliari, it will become 8, and it could become 10 if he's also absent from the last two matches. That would make it 42 matches. But even 38 is a lot: the equivalent of a whole season.
