The next 48 hours could be very important, probably decisive, to understand whether Sergio Conceiçao can become the new coach of Milan or not: between today and tomorrow, in fact, the Portuguese tactician, who is currently the top candidate for the Rossoneri bench, should meet the new president of Porto, Villas-Boas, and try to free himself from the contract until 2028 signed a few days ago.
This morning, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Conceiçao had renewed with the old president Pinto da Costa, but after the elections won by Villas-Boas, he seems to have changed his mind about his future. His departure at the end of the season seems very likely, especially since his agent Jorge Mendes is pushing to bring him to Milan for the post-Pioli era.
The Italian club, for now, remains in waiting, but if everything goes as expected, in the coming days Conceiçao will become a coach free from contractual constraints and at that point the Rossoneri's executives could attempt the decisive attempt to secure his services.
Since there are currently no certainties about what will happen at Porto, the casting for the bench remains open in the Rossoneri house. Other names remain on the Rossoneri's list, such as Roberto Martinez, Mark Van Bommel, and especially Paulo Fonseca, who has been the first alternative to Conceiçao for days, holding two offers in his hands (renewal with Lille and proposal from Marseille), but the former Roma coach, before making a choice, is waiting for a call from Milan. Will this call come sooner or later? Much will depend on the meeting that will take place in the next few hours between Conceiçao and Villas-Boas, as relayed via Milan News.
