Olivier Giroud, AC Milan's veteran striker, will play his last match in the red and black colours tonight against Salernitana at the San Siro stadium. The former Chelsea and Arsenal star wanted to address the fans, with images of his goals from the past three years. Here's what he said:
"Hello to all Milan fans, tonight will be my last match with Milan at San Siro. I wanted to tell you that I am very proud of all the emotions we have experienced together in these three years. Thank you for everything, I will never forget it. See you tonight with a smile for a beautiful evening. A big hug."
The AC Milan striker leaves with the sweet memory of the 2022 Scudetto, won in a comeback against Inter thanks also and especially to his two goals in the return derby. In general, he will be remembered as the first number 9 truly up to par since the days of Pippo Inzaghi. He was the one to break the so-called 'curse' that hovered over that number, as Calciomercato.com pointed out.
