Awaiting the official appointment of Paulo Fonseca as the new coach, Milan's transfer market is starting to move.
According to Sky Sport, the agent of Emerson Royal, a 25-year-old right-back of Premier League side Tottenham, visited the Rossoneri club's headquarters. The Brazilian player is one of the targets for the right flank for the upcoming transfer window, along with the Portuguese player Tiago Santos, currently with Lille.
According to Calciomercato.com, the latest meeting was a classic exploratory one to see if the player is available for a move. This past season at Tottenham, Emerson Royal made just 11 starts due to Pedro Porro's emergence, and he is considering a move elsewhere to regain regular playing time. Purchased in the summer of 2021 for 25 million euros from Barcelona, Emerson Royal is under contract with the Spurs until June 2026 and is valued at around 30 million euros.
One aspect Milan is considering if they decide to open a formal negotiation is the player's non-EU status. The Rossoneri's technical area is taking his candidacy into account, but as mentioned, they are also considering Tiago Santos, born in 2002, who excelled under Fonseca at Lille and has a more accessible price tag than Emerson Royal, between 10 and 12 million euros.
