In an interview with Dotsport.it, Claudio Lotito, president of Lazio, spoke about the transfer market and players' contracts:
"The football market is not what it used to be. Players are often attached to the long-term contracts they sign and no longer think about proving themselves year after year. The world has changed. In the past, players were satisfied with less, but now they always ask for more and rarely give up anything. This is a global problem. In all teams, as soon as results are achieved, it seems that everything is taken for granted."
Lotito added:
"In football, there are four categories of players: normal, good, excellent, and champions. Champions are those who can express their qualities in any condition. Klose, a player who made football history worldwide, earned half of what current players earn. He focused on working, not on continuously asking for raises. Football has a serious problem because the new generations are too attached to money."
