AC Milan will soon officially announce the arrival of Paulo Fonseca. But meanwhile, there is already work on the names for the transfer market, with the Portuguese coach.
The former AS Roma's coach has made some requests, writes SportMediaset on their website. Among these, certainly, Lilian Brassier, the 24-year-old central defender of Brest who had an excellent season, including a Champions League qualification, and was already targeted by Moncada last January. This easily means that there will be no clash over his profile: everyone agrees on adding him to the list of potential reinforcements.
The word "possible" is necessary for several reasons. Simply because, in the market, nothing is certain until the signatures are on paper. Actually, in this specific case, also because Wolfsburg moved early and decisively for Brassier, currently with a few steps ahead of the competition. However, Wolfsburg is Wolfsburg, meaning objectively a different and less prestigious reality than Milan, and, above all, they will not be playing in the next Champions League. A competition that, as mentioned, Brassier has earned with Brest and would like to play in.
But so it is and therefore work must be done. The cost, between ten and twelve million euros, is more than affordable. The salary is sustainable. The qualities convince everyone. Now, the ones left to be convinced are Brassier and his entourage, clearly the most difficult part of the negotiation.
Surely, the player would solve, or so they think at Casa Milan, the first problem, that of the central defender. It's logical that, at the same time, Moncada is moving on other fronts, from the right-back to the defensive midfielder (Youssouf Fofana from Monaco is appreciated) to the striker, the most complicated 'mountain' to climb. But at least from this point of view, there is no rush and, perhaps, even too much haste is not advisable. After all, it's only the beginning of June. The market has not officially opened and there is still time to study and make the right choice.
