In the course of the long interview given to Gianluca Di Marzio's website, Inter and Netherlands full-back Denzel Dumfries also spoke about the derbies against Milan, in which he inevitably found himself battling several times, sometimes beyond the limits, with Milan's left-back Theo Hernandez.
"With him, it's always intense battles, but that's normal in a derby. However, I have no problem with Theo. Each of us defends the colours of our club. He loves Milan, I love Inter, and it's always great to face him on the field because with him, they are real battles. But I want to make it clear that I don't feel any hatred towards him."
Dumfries added:
"Of course, I don't think we will ever go to dinner together. Between Theo and me, there is only a sports rivalry, we respect each other, and that's what matters. I love the sport, the rivalries, and the tension of the matches."
On the derby:
"The Milan derby is always a special match. These kinds of duels, like those between Theo and me, are in the DNA of these matches, making them special."
