Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, former striker Jean Pierre Papin, Ballon d'Or winner in 1991 and AC Milan's center forward from 1992 to 1994, shared his thoughts on the European Championship and the latest transfer news, including Milan's interest in signing Romelu Lukaku. The French legend fully endorsed this move. Here are his statements.
"He is one of the best 'number nines' in the world because he is physically strong and fast, and he is left-footed but can also shoot with his right. Belgium also has De Bruyne, an incredible midfielder, and other interesting players like the very fast Doku. And watch out for Tielemans: when he decides to play at his best, he becomes very important."
His "old" Milan could sign both Lukaku and the Frenchman Fofana.
"As I said about Lukaku, Milan needs a striker like him to replace Olivier Giroud. Lukaku fights for the team. I've studied Fofana at Monaco under Hutter: he does an incredible job in the style of Kanté. Hutter has turned him into a midfielder who covers a lot of ground, from one penalty area to the other."
