Former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli is on the verge of signing with Saudi club Al-Ittihad, were Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema plays.
According to the latest reports from Sky Sport and Fabrizio Romano, the Italian coach has decided to accept the Arab offer and embark on a new adventure immediately. Last night, the Saudi club confirmed the separation from Marcelo Gallardo, the Argentine coach who led the team last season without really any positive results.
The former AC Milan coach will earn a salary between 15 and 18 million euros per season, (he earns 4.5 million in his last contract with Milan). Pioli's announcement as Al Ittihad's coach is expected in the coming hours.
In the meantime, it is already known that the coach might immediately return to Italy to play a friendly match. And it wouldn't be just any match. In recent days, a friendly between Al Ittihad and Simone Inzaghi's Inter has been announced, scheduled for next August 7th at the U-Power Stadium in Monza.
An immediate return to the past for Pioli, albeit not a golden past considering the streak of consecutive derby losses, as pointed out by Milan News.
