This has been Alvaro Morata's week. The Spanish forward, who recently became the European champion with his national team as captain, underwent medical examinations and signed his new contract on Wednesday.
Now, he is enjoying his well-deserved vacation before diving into his new adventure with the Rossoneri. With Morata and Jovic in the attacking lineup, Milan now wants to acquire a third forward to provide Fonseca with as many options as possible.
Niclas Fullkrug is the number one candidate to wear the Rossoneri shirt next season. The German forward is coming off a great first year at Borussia Dortmund, which ended in the Champions League final.
The year before, he was the Bundesliga top scorer with Werder Bremen, and this summer, he participated in the European Championships with Germany, scoring two goals. Yet, despite a positive season, his opportunities at Borussia Dortmund might be dwindling. First of all, Borussia has changed coaches, replacing Terzic with Nuri Sahin.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the real obstacle is Serhou Guirassy, signed by Dortmund and assured of a starting position next season. The solution to the problem is quite simple: Fullkrug is closed out at Borussia Dortmund.
As a famous idiom goes, however, "when one door closes, another one opens." For Niclas, this could be the first time international football doors open at the age of 31, with Milan listing him as a candidate for the vice-Morata role.
The Rossoneri prefer him over Tammy Abraham from Roma because he fits better into Fonseca's play style and is notably cheaper. Dortmund is asking around 15 million euros for the German forward, while the Giallorossi wanted at least 25 million for the English player. More importantly, though, is Fullkrug's willingness: the forward has given his availability for a move to the Rossoneri. In the coming days, we will find out if Milan will push forward and negotiate with the German club or move towards other targets, as relayed via Milan News.
