After reinforcing the attack with Álvaro Morata, Milan is now focusing on other areas. In defence, for example, there could be significant developments: it’s no secret that they are trying to bring Strahinja Pavlović to Milanello, but the Serbian might not be the only addition if Newcastle manages to secure Malick Thiaw. If the German centre-back were to leave, then the Rossoneri club managementwould look for another player in that position.
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition, Milan has already secured the agreement from Pavlovic, while the gap with Salzburg is narrowing. Although not yet at the point of closing, there is optimism that the operation could be completed soon. Meanwhile, Newcastle’s interest in Malick Thiaw has been noted, with the English club ready to offer 30 million euros. It’s a significant offer, but the Rossoneri want at least forty to start negotiations.
If the sale of the German goes through, Milan would then be "forced" to make another defensive signing in addition to Pavlović.
The newspaper mentions two particular names for Milan’s defensive department: Igor from Brighton and Jhon Lucumí from Bologna. The former, who has already played for Fiorentina in his career, is no longer considered untouchable after De Zerbi's departure, while the latter is performing well in Bologna and would require at least 25 million euros to secure.
