Between yesterday and today, with AC Milan's return to Italy after their tour in the United States and the resumption of training at Milanello, the Rossoneri are introducing and getting acquainted with their only two signings this transfer window: Strahinja Pavlovic, presented yesterday at the press conference and at the store in via Dante, and Alvaro Morata, who arrived yesterday at Linate and is expected both at today's conference and at the meeting with fans in the city center.
Now Milan aims to complete their third signing—very close to happening—and the fourth one to give Fonseca the best possible team.
After focusing on strengthening the attack and the central defense, the Rossoneri are also finalizing the right-back position, which was a specific request from coach Paulo Fonseca. The name chosen by the Milan management is Emerson Royal, a Brazilian player whom the club had courted in the past.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the deal between Milan and Tottenham is in the final stages. The negotiation has been lengthy but was influenced by the coach’s firm desire to have a new right-back and the player’s strong desire to move to Milanello.
The initial request of 25 million euros and Milan's offer of just over 10 million have met halfway, and Milan will bring Royal to Milan for 15 million euros, excluding bonuses which will be around a couple of million.
Thus, Emerson Royal will be Milan’s third signing of the market, though it is uncertain whether he will be available for the season opener against Torino at San Siro in eight days. This uncertainty is not due to the timing of the deal but to the need for the player to adapt to the club and the new coach's style. Meanwhile, the Rossoneri will also try to finalise their fourth summer signing, another reinforcement long pursued at Casa Milan: Youssouf Fofana.
The player has already agreed terms with Milan and is eager to join, but Monaco is making things difficult, especially since Premier League clubs, notably West Ham United and Manchester United, have shown strong interest in the French midfielder. This deal will require even more patience than the negotiations with Salzburg for Pavlovic or Tottenham for Royal.
