According to Corriere dello Sport, Davide Calabria risks becoming the third player to end his time at Milan with the armband, following Gianluigi Donnarumma in 2021 and Alessio Romagnoli the following year.
The situation is quite stagnant, and the deafening boos at San Siro on Saturday night are partially indicative of this. The contract expiring in 2025 has added to the recent tensions with the Milan fans, who seem unwilling to tolerate this back-and-forth. Both parties are reportedly working to reach an agreement and resolve the issue.
The signing of Emerson Royal this summer, however, could potentially push Calabria, the team captain, further away from a starting role, and according to the Italian newspaper mentioned above, he could surprisingly be shown the door by the Rossoneri next summer.
