This summer has been a particularly eventful one for Luka Jovic, who, in just a few weeks, went from being confirmed and renewing with Milan to being left out of the club’s UEFA list for the 2024-2025 Champions League. In between, he was named vice-Morata, but at the end of the transfer market, Tammy Abraham arrived, effectively taking his place and pushing him down in Paulo Fonseca’s hierarchy.
Reflections on Luka Jovic's situation
As reported this morning by Tuttosport, the former Real Madrid player did not participate in the last away match against Lazio due to a physical issue, but in reality, there were also market-related reasons behind his exclusion. In the end, no deal materialized, and it seems the Serbian is set to remain at Milanello at least until January when the transfer market reopens. Currently, the new Milan No.9 is with the national team alongside his teammate Pavlovic, but Serbia cannot be his only concern right now.
Turkish market is an opportunity for Luka Jovic
Jovic is likely reflecting on what to do because there is still an open market, specifically in Turkey, which is effectively his only remaining way out. It’s true that on Tuesday, Milan’s CEO Giorgio Furlani stated that Milan has three strikers because there are many games, so the team needs many players (and goals), but the Serbian truly risks playing very little since Morata and Abraham are Fonseca’s first choices.
The Turkish market remains open until September 13th; otherwise, the former Real Madrid and Fiorentina player will have to fight hard to hope for some playing time.
