All Ittihad were reportedly interested in ex Milan coach Stefano Pioli. The Saudi club, however, ended up signing Laurent Blanc as replacement of Marcelo Gallardo. Now, it seems that another club in Saudi Arabia is pursuing the Italian coach, who is still technically under contract with Milan as it runs until June 2025.
The club in question is Al Nassr. Their Portuguese coach Luis Castro is at risk of being sacked, and his position could be terminated after the next league match scheduled for Friday at home against Al Ahli. According to Okaz Sports, Pioli is already lined up as the replacement, preferred over Sergio Conceição.
The team features the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Aymeric Laporte, Otávio, and Sadio Mané. During this summer transfer window, after receiving a refusal from former Inter player Škriniar, who stayed at PSG, they signed 24-year-old French defender Mohamed Simakan (a player heavily linked with a move to Milan back in 2021) from RB Leipzig for 35 million euros.
